About Adam Molnar
Adam has his Ph.D. in Oriental Studies, and has lectured in the history, languages, anthropology, and religious history of Central Asia at the University of Szeged, Southern Hungary. His book, "Weather-Magic in Inner Asia" was published in Bloomington, Indiana. He is Secretary of the International Society for Shamanistic Research, publishes Shaman, thejournal of the society, as well as a book series and the Journal of Hungarian Heritage for the European Folklore Institute. As a guide, he offers programs in Hungarian folk dance, music and crafts.

Our Itinerary Map

Day 1: March 21, Friday:
Departure on Austrian Airlines from JFK airport in New York City.

Day 2: March 22, Saturday:
Arrival in Budapest. Transfer to our four-star superior Artotel hotel facing the Danube River, parliament building, and landmark Chain Bridge. The entire hotel has been dedicated to Donald Sultan, a world renowned American artist, whose works are on display in public places and all individual rooms. Meet our guide, Adam Molnar. Orientation walking tour and welcome dinner.

Day 3: March 23, Easter Sunday:
Half day sightseeing in Budapest. Lunch enroute.

Day 4: March 24, Easter Monday:
Walking tour of the Buda Castle Hill district. Dinner. Evening concert by the Méta Band and their guests at the Palace of Arts.

Day 5: March 25, Tuesday:
Full day trip to the Danube Bend: Esztergom, medieval Hungarian capital of Visegrad, the art colony of Szentendre, a town with a Mediterranean touch. Lunch in venison restaurant. Evening classical concert.

Day 6: March 26, Wednesday:
Half day sightseeing: Jewish Heritage of Budapest. Dinner. Serbian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, and Greek dance evening.

Day 7: March 27, Thursday:
Visit rehearsal of the Hungarian State Folk Ensemble.
Dinner in a typical Hungarian restaurant.

Day 8: March 28, Friday:
Full day trip to the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site of Holloko. Meet local crafts people, singers, and musicians. Lunch with the villagers. Evening free.

Day 9: March 29, Saturday:
Half-day tour of Budapest, Old Buda with the Main Square, and a special folk art exhibit and Roman ruins. Visit the Budapest Museum of Ethnography. Farewell Dinner.

Day 10: March 30, Sunday:
Morning transfer to airport. Return to New York.
