About
Adam Molnar
Adam has his Ph.D. in Oriental Studies, and has
lectured in the history, languages, anthropology, and religious
history of Central Asia at the University of Szeged, Southern
Hungary. His book "Weather-Magic
in Inner Asia" was published in Bloomington, Indiana.
He
is Secretary of the International Society for Shamanistic Research,
publishes "Shaman", journal of the society as well as
a book series and journal of "Hungarian Heritage" for
the European Folklore Institute. As a guide, he offers programs
in Hungarian folk dance, music and crafts.

1: Saturday, July 26:
Depart on Czech Air from JFK airport in New York City.
Day
2: Sunday, July 27:
Arrive in Budapest. Meet your guide at airport and transfer
to hotel. Orientation walk in city center.
Dinner and overnight in Budapest in Hotel Benczur.
Day
3: Monday, July 28:
Half-day sight-seeing in Budapest with a visit to the Museum of Ethnography.
Afternoon free. Dinner followed by evening con-cert or tanchaz. Overnight
at Hotel Benczur, Budapest. |

4: Tuesday, July 29:
Half-day side trip to the charming town of Szentendre, lunch
in a typical Hungarian restaurant. Drive back to Budapest, evening
free. Overnight at Hotel Benczur.

5: Wednesday, July 30:
In the morning drive to the village of Holloko, an UNESCO World
Cultural Heritage Site, village walk, visit small local museums.
Drive on to the town of Eger across the Matra Hills. Walking
tour in the city center. Dinner with wine tasting in Eger. Overnight
at Hotel Eger.
Day
6: Thursday, July 31:
In the morning we will leave for the Hortobagy, the Hungarian
cowboy country to see the Sheperds' Museum and typical Hungarian
domesticated animals. Drive on to the town of Karcag to see a
potter's workshop, then continue to Jaszbereny. Dinner and evening
performance. Overnight at Hotel Sólyom Panzió in
Jászberény.

7: Friday, August 1:
Full-day workshop at the Jászberény Folk Music
and Folk Dance Camp. Dinner. Evening concert, night concert and
tanchaz. Overnight at Sólyom Panzió.

8: Saturday, August 2:
Full-day at the Csango Festival, performances, folk craft fair.
Dinner. Night concert and tanchaz till dawn. 0vernight at Sólyom
Panzió.

9: Sunday, August 3:
Drive to the town of Mezõkövesd. A full-day Matyó Festival,
a folk craft fair, and performances during the whole day. Dinner.
Evening gala performance. Overnight at Hotel Zsóri, Zsórifürdõ or
Rózsa Panzió, Mezõkövesd/Zsórifürdõ,

10: Monday, August 4:
Drive to Budapest, free time for shopping, and more. Farewell
dinner. overnight at Hotel Benczúr.

Morning drive to Budapest International Airport. Fly back home.
